Beta-Alanine Products (Powder)

Beta-alanine is an amino acid that differs from the amino acids used to build proteins. The body uses it to make carnosine, a compound stored in skeletal muscle.

Beta-alanine is used to raise muscle carnosine, which helps buffer acidity during intense activity. Some studies report small performance benefits in certain high-intensity activities, but results vary by activity and person.

Beta-alanine can cause temporary tingling or prickling called paresthesia, especially when a larger amount is taken at once. Follow the product label and do not exceed its directions; ask a healthcare professional if a reaction concerns you.
