AAKG Products

AAKG is commonly marketed for workout support because arginine is used by the body to make nitric oxide. Research on exercise outcomes is mixed: one longer study reported improvements in selected strength and power measures, while an acute study found no improvement in muscular performance.

Follow the product label and do not assume that more powder will produce a better workout result. AAKG-containing products have been associated with adverse-event reports, although other ingredients could not always be ruled out. Consult a healthcare professional before use if you take medication or have a health condition.

AAKG stands for L-arginine alpha-ketoglutarate. It combines the amino acid L-arginine with alpha-ketoglutarate, a compound involved in normal energy metabolism. It is often sold in pre-workout and sports-nutrition powders.
